Welcome to the home page for the Armed Forces Skeet Association (AFSA). We conduct the annual Armed Services Skeet Championships (ASSC) at various locations throughout the United States. We are a 501-c(19) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving our active and retired military membership. The site was last updated on February 3, 2012 .

Click here for one way links to web pages associated with the next shoot only if you do not wish to activate the menu bar control in Internet Explorer.

We owe our thanks to the Air Force Skeet Teams, Kolar employees, the Mainland family, and John Ramagli for the great Kolar Gun donated by Kolar Arms as a wonderful door prize for our 50th Anniversary. Kolar MAX, 30", AAA Tubes & Custom AFSA Case. John presented it at the banquet to Chris Robbins, USAF.

Please go to the HISTORY page to see all of the awards for the 50th Anniversary Shoot.

THIS SHOOT IS OPEN TO ALL MILITARY SHOOTERS WITH A VALID MILITARY ID OR CAC CARD. ALL RESERVISTS (ACTIVE OR INACTIVE) WITH A VALID ID OR CAC CARD ARE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND IAW A 2011 BOARD OF DIRECTORS DECISION. FOREIGN COUNTRY MILITARY SHOOTERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO ATTEND. ALL EXCEPT RETIRED MILITARY AND DEPENDENTS MAY NOT SHOOT ON INTERSERVICE TEAMS.
General Membership Meetings are information meetings for the Membership where you have the opportunity to ask questions of the Officers and Directors. Motions that require approval of something must be presented and voted on at the Director's Meetings. Per the By-Laws the Directors are responsible for managing AFSA. The General Membership only votes on two items: By-Law Amendments, and the Election of Officers and Directors. We were off track on this for a number of years so I know it sounds like we changed how you interact with the Officers and Directors, but that was not the case. We are abiding by Article IV, Section 1 of the By-Laws.

2012 SHOOT INFORMATION

Registration is now open for all shooters. We need more referees.

The 2012 shoot will be at Waco, TX on 21-25 May with the Pletcher/ Bradshaw Memorial on 18-20 May.

The program and registration information are posted on the host club shoot page. (Click on Next Shoot above and select Host Club Shoot.)

Our normal week would be 14-18 May. That is Baylor's graduation week and no motels would be available for us. The Master's will be 3-6 May in Savannah.

RVers need to get their spaces reserved. The Pletcher/Bradshaw will be a large shoot and range RV spaces will be hard to get if you wait. 12 were reserved as of 24 Aug 11.

Silver coins will continue to be given to winners in 2012. Our shooters have spoken on this twice and want higher entry fees as necessary to keep giving silver coin awards. Program changes made for 2012 will allow us to keep giving coins while holding down entry fees. On 4 Sept 11 I bought the silver for the 2012 shoot.

I expect to be able to lower the $40/100 entry fee once I know the number registered and what the other awards will cost.

We still plan to lose money on this shoot. I probably won't know the true entry fee/100 until late March, but I hope it will be under $38 given the new awards package.

I must order all banquet meals on 4 May so please register as early as your plans allow.

Joe Pierce and Don Snyder donated a Remington 1100 for the D HOA Shotgun award for 2012. We'd really like to see more D HOA shooters come to beat Ken Pitman who wins it year after year.

2011 SHOOT HIGHLIGHTS

The 2011-13 officers are Pres - Rich Menhart, VP - Brad Felton, Sec - Joe Pierce, and Treas- Pat Knutson.

Pilla Glasses were auctioned at the shoot to benefit the Wounded Warriors Shooting Program.

Ken Pitman donated a Remington 1100 for raffle to benefit the Wounded Warriors Shooting Program.

The 2011 shoot lost about $5,500 after all bills were paid. We plan to lose money for a few more years, but hopefully not this much again.

An internet board meeting was held in June to approve a new program and awards package. The minutes of the meeting are posted on the Director's Minutes page.

SPECIAL INFORMATION

Kolar Arms offers special discounts to Military and Retired Military shooters. They offer a 15 % discount on tube sets and most other items. Special discount pricing is also available on Kolar Shotguns by calling John Ramagli at 1-262-554-0800.

Kolar and Briley have supported our shoot for as many years as I can remember. They are both great companies. Please support them when you get the opportunity.

Remington has provided our award shotguns for a number of years at special prices. They no longer make 1100 Tournament Skeet shotguns. AFSA has always paid for the guns with AFSA funds and donations from service teams and individual shooters. All D Class HOA shotguns have been paid for with shooter donations.

White Flyer Targets and Phil Murray have developed a special target cost program for AFSA that will allow clubs to purchase targets at lower cost and enable clubs and AFSA to pass that lower cost on to our shooters at the ASSC. White Flyer donated shoot off targets for the 50th Anniversary Shoot and provided special memento targets to us. Clubs can choose to have AFSA provide targets for our shoot in their bid.

THE HOST CLUB shoot is normally called the Pletcher Open. That shoot is open to all NSSA members. AFSA members who go on to shoot the ASSC are subject to re-average and re-classification after shooting Pletcher events.

GUN WINNERS must always have two forms of identification that shows the same name and address to gain possession of any shotguns won. This is an ATF requirement. P.O. Box addresses are not acceptable. If you bring a signed FFL you can arrange for the club FFL holder to ship your gun to your local FFL holder.

DOOR PRIZES. Charlie Novotny, Chris Fain, and Chris Naler are the POC for getting door prizes. Their email addresses are on the Leaders page. Remington has already sent me a number of door prizes for the shoot.
